Arnhem
(G): H. Hart van
Jezus
(W. te Riele, 1925-1928)
The H.
Hartkerk was designed by
W. te Riele in a combination of neo-Gothic and Expressionist styles. It is a
compact three-aisled
cruciform basilica with narrow side-aisles and a wide
central aisle. The clerestorey has two gables on either side. The
windows of the nave are held in large, pointed arches. At
the front it has a portal. Like Te
Riele's earlier church in Hengelo (Ov), a tower is positioned above the
choir . This tower has a square base and an octagonal upper part. At the
back is a polygonal apse.
The church closed in 2013 and has become a
health center.
