Berkelland
municipality / Gemeente Berkelland (G)
Municipality in the Achterhoek region, bordering on the Twente region of Overijssel. The municipality was formed in 2005 when the former municipalities of Borculo, Eibergen, Neede and Ruurlo merged. The new municipality was named after the river Berkel and consist of the town Borculo and the villages Beltrum, Eibergen, Geesteren, Gelselaar, Haarle, Neede, Noordijk, Rekken, Rietmolen and Ruurlo.
Gemeente in de Achterhoek, grenzend aan de Overijsselse streek Twente. De gemeente ontstond in 2005 dor samenvoeging van de gemeentes orculo, Eibergen, Neede en Ruurlo. De nieuwe gemeente werd genoemd naar de rivier de Berkel en bestaat uit de stad Borculo en de dorpen Beltrum, Eibergen, Geesteren, Gelselaar, Haarle, Neede, Noordijk, Rekken, Rietmolen and Ruurlo.
The reformed Joriskerk is a two-aisled church in late-Gothic style, built in several stages in the 16th century. The upper part of the tower was destroyed by a hurricane in 1925 and rebuilt later.

The former synagogue is a building in Neo-Classical style, built in 1877. After World War Two, in which it was badly damaged, it was rebuilt.

Oude Mattheus ('old Mattheus') is
the reformed church of Eibergen. It's a late-Gothic pseudo-basilica and
was built in several stages between tca.1400 and ca.1500.

Geesteren
The saddle-roof tower of the reformed church is unusual for this part of the country. It was built in the 14th century and has details in Romanesque style. The actual church is in Gothic style and was built in the late-15th century.

Het Lokaal is the name of this small church, built in 1912 for the conservative reformed community. Despite the period it was built in, the church is in a Neo-Classical style which had become uncommon by then.

Rietmolen
Rietmolen developed in the 18th century around a barn-church, but the current St. Caecilia dates from 1932-1932. It's a centralizing church in Traditionalist style and was designed by C.A. Hardeman.

Ruurlo
The reformed church is a two-aisled building and is in Gothic style mostly. The nave and the choir date from the 14th century, while the tower is from the late-15th century. In 1843-1845 a side-aisle with Neo-Classical details was built on the north side to replace a smaller Gothic one.

In 1868-1871 the Neo-Gothic St. Willibrord was built to replace a modest barn-church. P.J.H. Cuypers designed it as a one-aisled church, but in 1937-1938 side-aisles were added by J.H. Sluijmer.
