The reformed church of Noordlaren was formerly called St. Bartholomeus. It is a one-aisled church with a narrower, rectangular choir and a tall tower with saddle-roof. The oldest part is the choir, which could date from the late-12th century and was built as part of an otherwise wooden church. Next is the lower part of the tower, which supposedly dates from the early 13th century and is decorated with arches and arcades. The nave was probably built in the first half of the 13th century, although the windows in simple Gothic style were possibly added later. Remarkable are the stepped buttreses. At the north side, the first trave has a closed portal. The tower was heightened in the 15th century.
