Doesburg (G)
Doesburg is a town and a municipality in the west of the Achterhoek region. It received city rights in 1237 and was, due to its strategic position along the rivers Oude IJssel and Gelderse IJssel, an important fortified city for a long time. The fortification made Doesburg an important economic and administrative city but also prevented its extension until in 1923 its fortified status ended. Its prosperity diminished after the 15th century, resulting in a largely preserved historic centre.
Doesburg is een stad en een gemeente in het westen van de Achterhoek. Het kreeg in 1237 stadsrechten en was door zijn strategische ligging langs de rivieren de Oude IJssel en de Gelderse IJssel lange tijd een belangrijke vestingstad. De vesting maakte van Doesburg een belangrijke economische en bestuurlijke stad, maar verhinderde ook de uitbreiding ervan tot in 1923 de vestingstatus werd opgeheven. Na de 15e eeuw nam de welvaart af, waardoor de historische binnenstad grotendeels bewaard is gebleven.
The Grote- of Martinikerk is a big basilica in Lower Rhine Gothic style, built in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Its tower was blown up in 1945 and was completely reconstructed in the years 1960-1965.

The Gasthuiskerk is an aisleless church in a simple late Gothic style. It was built early 15th century as the chapel of a guest house and has been a Lutheran church since 1735, although in the present it is mostly used for cultural events.

The Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerk is a former house from the 15th century which in 1877 was rebuilt into a church. After the original users left in 1972 it served various denominations as well as profane functions until in 2015 it became a house.

The New Apostolic church was built in 1959 and was designed by H.K. Hendriks in a modern style with both Traditionalist and Functionalist elements.
