Tjamsweer (Gr): reformed church

After troops of the duke of Gelre had destroyed the 12th century church of Tjamsweer in 1536, a new one was built in 1538. It was a one-aisled building in late-Gothic style which apparently had no tower. Several changes since resulted in the current look of the building. Repairs were made in 1598 and 1631. The tower, which is in Classical style, was built between 1748 and 1776. Although their Gothic style was mostly retained, the nave and the choir were covered with plaster in 1880.
